COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

MOTION NO. 7
MOTION: Councillor C. Brophy
"That the Manager erect Children At Play signs at Willington Lawn as a warning to motorists to slow down."
REPORT:
Children at Play Signs are non statutory signs and whilst permission is sought to erect them on the public verge, the Council funds do not provide for the procurement of the sign. The Council receives numerous requests for signage on a weekly basis and the adopted procedure is for the Council to erect them when provided. This is a reasonable procedure and commits the residents to being involved in the safety aspects of their estate.
Residents wishing to apply for such signage, should note that a standard fee exists of €200 per sign (including pole) or €120 per sign where there is an existing lamp pole. This cost is paid by local residents. On receipt of said fee, the Council then arrange for the delivery and installation of the sign.
