MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, June 09, 2008

QUESTION NO.04

QUESTION: Councillor R. Dowds

To ask the Manager how much in the way of development levies would South Dublin County Council get if 12,000 housing units were built in the Clonburris SDZ/ LAP?

REPLY:

If 2-bedroom units are assumed for the purpose of the estimate the development contribution income derived from 12,000 residential units if granted permission at 2008 rates is as follows:-

€11,952 (per 2 bedroom plus unit) x 12,000 = €143,424,000.

It should be noted that the rates of contributions are updated effective from 1st January each year during the life of the Development Contribution Scheme in accordance with the Tender Price Index.

It should be also be noted that that the number of units will be set by An Bord Pleanala.

The period of receipt of development contributions is dependent on the pace of development which will be over very many years.
