MOTION NO.2

MOTION: Councillor E. Maloney

That this Committee requests the Housing Dept., to instruct Respond Housing Association to demolish the derelict building at their site on Cookstown Way, Tallaght, in the interest of public safety.

REPORT:

Planning permission was granted on 8th December 2004 for a mixed Social, Affordable and Voluntary housing development by Respond! Housing Association at Cookstown Way, Tallaght on a site partly owned by the Council and partly owned by the St John of God Trust.

At the County Council meeting on 14th July 2003,  the Members agreed to dispose of the Council's portion of the site to Respond! Housing Association, subject to them assembling ownership of the overall site.

Legal arrangements are being put in place between the St John of God Trust and Respond! Housing Association to complete this process.  Contact has been made by the Council with both groups and construction is expected to commence in the near future.
