MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

This Committee calls on the manager to address the problem of excessive parked cars (to facilitate car trading) on the Old Court Road in the vicinity of the back entrance to Holy Rosary National School

REPORT:

Following the adoption by the Council of the recommendations of the Transportation Strategic Policy Committee on a new policy under Section 71 of the Roads Act 1993, in relation to vehicles offered for sale on the public road, discussions have been proceeding with Garda management throughout the County in order to finalise the implementation plan. These discussions are almost complete and it is anticipated that the roll out of this major new initiative will commence shortly. A list of locations where unauthorised vehicles are being placed has been prepared and the area referred to in the motion is one such location. If members become aware of other locations which require inspection they should notify the Roads Department of the details.
