QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren

To ask the Manager what action South Dublin County Council intend taking to improve the general appearance at the boundary fence onto Killakee View in Firhouse, and given the fact that the County Dublin VEC have now confirmed that this area of land is not in their ownership or control, if South Dublin County Council will now resolve this issue by taking responsibility for the land in question, improving the appearance and amenity, and thereby reducing  the risk of dumping, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

REPLY:

The ownership of the land in question is being ascertained at present.  The Council’s Engineer has been instructed to carry out an inspection on this property and issue a report stating whether he considers the site to be derelict, within the definition contained in the Derelict Sites Act, 1990.  If the site is found to be derelict, the owner will be issued with a Notice outlining the works which must be carried out in order to render the property non-derelict.
