That the Manager outline the rationale for the €150.00 charge for the removal of private cars when the three other local authorities in Dublin charge a much lower rate ie Dublin City Council = €30.00, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown = €100.00 and Fingal = €50.00 per Dublinwaste.ie website.

REPORT:

The Council charge in relation to vehicle removal is based on costs incurred by the Council in employing contractors to remove cars.

Such costs include the cost per standard vehicle removal, administrative charges levied by the contractor and VAT as applicable. The Council also incurs costs in dealing with the requests received.  Consequently, the charge of €150 reflects the cost to the Council of the provision of the service. 

It should be noted that persons wishing to have their vehicles disposed of can do so free of charge by bringing them to authorised treatment facilities rather than requesting the Council to arrange this for them.
