MOTION NO.8
MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this Committee calls on the Manager to comment on the practice of the provision of electrical sockets directly beneath kitchen sinks and the possible safety risks attached as was the practice in the new units in McUlluim Estate in Fortunestown, Tallaght".
REPORT:
The Council's Architectural Services Department report that low level electrical sockets are provided for appliances such as fridges and washing machines under the worktop in McUlluim Estate. These sockets are put in at an early stage and located near to the location of the intended appliance. Sometimes when the kitchen is fitted they are not exactly behind the appliance. In some instances they could be closer to the kitchen sinks (which are earthed) but this does not contravene Electrical Technical Council of Ireland regulations nor pose any safety risk.
