QUESTION NO 17.

QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the Manager about the progress of the Tallaght Stadium such as the work undertaken to date, an estimated completion date for the project and if the stadium will be ready in time for Shamrock Rovers to take up residence there in time for next season?"

REPLY:

The Council is in the process of overseeing the completion of Phase 1 of the stadium project i.e to complete the partially built stand, pitch and associated works. 

 The Council entered into negotiations with the original design team and the contractor who was in possession of the site some time ago, prior to the initiation of the judicial review proceedings, with a view to updating the contract documentation and agreeing a revised contract price for the completion of the contract works.

 These negotiations are now complete and a revised contract will be signed and is anticipated that the works on site will commence in the very near future with a target of completion in time for the availability of the Stadium for Shamrock Rovers use for home games in the League of Ireland next season.

The Council made an application for funding under the 2008 Sports Capital Grant Scheme towards the funding of the Project and is awaiting a decision on this application which is expected at the end of May 2008.
