MEETING OF TERENURE-RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE (2)

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

MOTION NO 10.

MOTION: Councillor C. Keane

"That this committee discusses Elkwood Estate in Rathfarnham. In the upper end, there is a small triangle measuring approx 20 metres X 16 metres X 7 metres where fresh planting of suitable shrubs with a membrane to prevent weeds growing through has been requested by residents for some time, and if you could give an approximate time when this will be done."

REPORT:

The Parks & Landscape Services Department does not propose to replant shrubs at this location.  The area was planted a number of years ago with shrubs which has not been successful. The area is shaded by the existing overhead trees and adjacent boundary walls and the plants have been trampled by persons entering into the planted area.

The Parks Department will retain the existing trees and the area beneath will be cleared, tidied and seeded with grass.
