QUESTION NO. 4

QUESTION: Councillor C. King

To ask the Manager to update the Committee on progress made in relation to the proposed West Oldcourt Area Action Plan and to inform all individuals and groups that made submissions on the pre-draft stage of the current delays in progressing the plan.

REPLY:

A number of issues remain to be resolved regarding the proposed Draft Local Area Plan, namely:

-         Resolving access and circulation given the existing pattern of traffic in the area. This was a key issue identified in the pre-draft public consultation

-         The treatment of the existing 220Kv power line that traverses the land, and accommodating two existing raw water trunk mains that also traverse the Draft Local Area Plan lands

These issues are being examined and they may take several months to resolve as agreement by a number of independent parties would be necessary.

The drafting of a Local Area Plan is delayed pending their resolution.

All individuals and groups that made submissions at the pre-draft stage will be notified when  the Draft Local Area Plan goes on public display.
