COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (1)
Tuesday, March 18, 2008
HEADED ITEM NO. 10
HEADED ITEM: Z. Markey
Belgard Road Residential Caravan Park
REPLY:
There are at present 8no. families living in the Belgard Road R.C.P. accommodation consisting of 6no. bays and 1no. house. This site is included in the Council's Accommodation Programme 2005-2008 for redevelopment/refurbishment.
Following extensive discussions and meetings with the Management of the ITT, during the course of the preparation of the Tallaght Masterplan and the Masterplan for the ITT lands, a formal request was made to them at at meeting on the 23rd November 2007 for the lands necessary to redevelop the existing R.C.P. in order to accommodation all of the existing families on the site.
The attached letter dated 25th February, 2008 has been received in response to the request for these additional lands.
At this time the following three options are open to the Council.
1. Develop the existing site. The current site will at maximum cater for 4no. houses or 4no. bays and thereby necessitate re-housing or moving 4no. families elsewhere in the County.
2. Enter into further negotiations with the ITT with a view to obtaining a smaller plot of lands adjacent to the existing R.C.P. with a view to allowing for the refurbishment of the site for all the existing families.
3. Develop an alternative site within South Dublin County Council to cater for the families on the existing site.
At this time discussions are continuing with the ITT in respect of the 1st and 2nd options ab ove.,
