MOTION NO 10.
MOTION: Councillor M. Ardagh
"That the Manager plant substantial amounts of trees on the boundary between Tymon Park and the M50. People walking in the park avoid this area because of the unpleasantness of the noise of the traffic from the motorway."
REPORT:
As part of the ongoing M50 upgrade works, a wooden sound barrier is being installed along its boundary with Tymon Park to address the issue of noise impact from the motorway.
Landscape plans have also been prepared by the consultants to provide for new planting along the margins to a similar specification to that which previously existed to provide a noise buffer between the park boundary and the motorway. Opportunities to undertake additional planting within and along the park perimeter are limited to an extent by the positioning of playing pitches but some planting will be undertaken as part of the 2008/09 Arboricultural Programme.
