MOTION: Councillor M. Ardagh
"That the Manager state what the Council's policy is in relation to householders installing satellite dishes on the fronts of houses without planning permission."
REPORT:
Conditions and Limitations 1-4 of Class 4(b) - Part 1 to Schedule 2 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 (Exempted Development General) deal with the erection of satellite dish type antennae as follows:
1. Not more than 1 such antenna shall be erected on or within the curtilage of a house.
2. The diameter of any such antenna shall not exceed 1 metre
3. No such antenna shall be erected on or forward of the front wall of the house.
4. No such antenna shall be erected on the front roof slope of the house or higher than the highest part of the roof of the house.
Should the Council become aware that a satellite dish type antenna has been erected within the curtlage of a house and does not meet the above criteria, a Warning letter pursuant to Section 152 of the Planning & Development Act 2000 issues to the owner/occupier requesting the removal of the satellite dish within a period of 4 weeks. On expiry of the Warning Letter a further inspection is carried out and an Enforcement Notice issues where necessary.
