QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

To ask the Manager how soon will work commence and be completed on Tallaght Stadium?

REPLY:

The Council has appointed a Project Manager to oversee the completion of Phase 1 of the stadium project i.e to complete the partially built stand, pitch and associated works.  The Council had entered into negotiations with the original design team and the contractor who was in possession of the site some time ago,prior to the initiation of the judicial review proceedings , with a view to updating the contract documentation and agreeing a revised contract price for the completion of the contract works. Unfortunately due to the lengthy Court proceedings which subsequently ensued, these negotiations could not be finalised. Following the recent Court decision which has cleared the way for the works to proceed, the Council has re-commenced negotiations with the Project Manager and contractor with a view to signing a revised contract and re-starting works on site within the coming weeks. It is expected that the works will be completed by the end of 2008.
