SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE 2

QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren
To ask the Manager why it is that no action has been taken on foot of a complaint made to the Planning Enforcement Section of South Dublin County Council by *details supplied, concerning an unauthorised advertising sign in the Hunterswood area, advertising housing units for sale in the adjoining area, and if the Manager would outline exactly what action has been taken to date, and exactly why it is that this sign remains in place some ten months after the complaint was first made, and if he will make a statement on the matter?
REPLY:
Following receipt of complaints, an inspection was carried out at these lands. A Warning Letter pursuant to Section 152 of the Planning & Development Act 2000 was served on the developer of these lands for the erection of an advertising sign at the entrance to Hunterswood Estate that is not exempted development under the Planning & Development Regulations 2001.
Submissions were received in response to this letter on 14th August 2007.
An Enforcement Notice pursuant to Section 154 of the Planning & Development Act 2000 was served on the developer on 15th January 2008 requiring within the period commencing 17th January 2008 and ending 31st January 2008 the removal of the advertising sign.
The site will now be reinspected, and if the sign hasn't been removed legal proceedings will be initiated.
