QUESTION NO 7.

QUESTION: Councillor T. McDermott

"To ask the Manager when a cleanup of the area adjoining the pedestrian bridge between Prospect Manor to Edmondstown Road will happen and what plans are in place for on-going upkeep of the area?"

REPLY:

The pedestrian Bridge over the Owendoher River at Prospect Manor, Edmondstown has been the subject of Enforcement proceedings by the Planning Department. As a result of this action, the developer is in the process of completing the bridge and has indicated that the works to the bridge will be completed shortly following which it is proposed to offer the bridge for taking in charge by the Parks Department.

The taking in charge of the bridge will be subject to the satisfactory completion of the works which include repairs to the rails, installation of a traffic barrier on Edmondstown Road, connection of footpaths to the bridge and an independent engineering assessment of the structure.

When the taking in charge process has been completed, the Parks & Landscape Services Department will assume responsibility for its ongoing upkeep.
