MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor T. McDermott

"That the Committee discuss medium-term and long-term plans for traffic management on Stocking Lane with particular focus on the recently commissioned traffic consultants report." 

REPORT:

The Roads Department is currently progressing the provision of a new offroad footpath and cycle track on the west side of Stocking Lane from Scholarstown Road southwards to the entrance to Airpark Estate.  The Consultants current brief does not include either the traffic calming of or the upgrading/widening of Stocking Lane.  Any widening would involve the removal of the lines of mature trees and this is not deemed to be desirable as it is a requirement to retain the rural characteristics of Stocking Lane.
