MOTION NO. 2
MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"That the Council engage with Knocklyon parish with regard to the parish ceding a strip of ground in order to facilitate additional car parking in the vicinity of the Church which should help in considerably relieving the traffic congestion at peak times."
REPORT:
The Council has examined the situation on Idrone Drive, Knocklyon. This road has been studied on several occasions previously due to congestion at peak times for school drop off and pickup. A range of measures have been implemented in the area by the Council, complementing those measures provided by others.
The purpose of the measures is to ensure that the roadway is kept free of parking and that the necessary capacity is maintained out to Knocklyon Road. There is a substantial quantity of parking provided and it is considered that the provision of additional parking will further increase traffic flow on the road and introduce new access junctions into the car park.
