QUESTION NO. 2

QUESTION: Councillor M. Ardagh

"To ask the Manager to provide public lighting adjacent to the odd numbered houses on Greentrees Road as following the upgrading of the lighting on Greentrees Road and the width of the grass verges and footpath, residents are concerned about the loss of lighting adjacent to their houses?"

REPLY:

The public lighting network on Greentrees Road was fully upgraded in 2007.  This involved the placement of new ducting/cabling along the full road length followed by the installation of new columns.  The lanterns used were 150W SON type replacing the old 90W SOX, which resulted in increased lighting levels and better colour rendering.  All columns were replaced to improve structural safety and provide a better environment.  It would be cost prohibitive to provide a dual circuit on the opposite side of the road noting that lighting levels have improved dramatically.
