APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE CAPITAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME FROM FOLD HOUSING ASSOCIATION IRELAND LIMITED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 6 OF THE HOUSING (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1992 FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THIRTY FIVE NO. SOCIAL HOUSING UNITS, COMMUNAL FACILITIES AND CAR PARK SPACES AT WHITESTOWN WAY, TALLAGHT, DUBLIN 24.

An application has been received from FOLD Housing Association Ireland Ltd. for a grant in the amount of €7,283,528.85 under the Capital Assistance Scheme for the purchase of 35 no. apartments, communal facilities and car park spaces at Whitestown Way, Tallaght. The apartments are comprised of 3 no. 3 bedroom, 23 no. 2 bedroom, and 9 no. 1 bedroom units. The Council has arranged for the acquisition of these units by FOLD under a Part V agreement from P. Elliott & Co. Ltd. under planning application ref. no. SD03A/0320. for which full planning permission was granted on 1/7/2004. The projected completion date is February 2008. The apartments will be used as sheltered accommodation for the elderly and FOLD has considerable experience in the management of such accommodation.

Under Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1992 the granting of assistance under the Capital Assistance Scheme is a reserved function of the Council and is subject to the approval of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. Accordingly the following resolution is required:

"That this Council recommends that the application for a grant in the amount of €7,283,528.85 to FOLD Housing Association Ireland Ltd. in accordance with Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1992 be approved"
