QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh

"To ask the Manager if prior notice could be given for road sweepers and enable residents to move cars to enable the work to proceed?"

REPLY:

The Road Sweeping Schedule is planned on a six monthly basis and gives indicative dates on which sweeping is due to take place in each housing estate included on the schedule. Due to the fact that the schedule forecasts ahead for a six month period it is often possible that a deviation from the scheduled dates will occur from time to time due to unforeseen circumstances.

For this reason it is difficult to make a Road Sweeping schedule available well in advance of the dates. A system of advanced notice for particular areas should be possible through the Council's website etc however and will be investigated with the Council's contractor.

The Environmental Services Dept however is eager to assist any residents groups that may wish to help in the cleaning effort and in this regard it would be possible to give out information on request regarding the next scheduled date for sweeping in any housing estate.
