COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TERENURE-RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE 2
Tuesday, January 08, 2008
QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
“To ask the Manager to put in place designated areas for the sale of Christmas trees in the Terenure/Rathfarnham Ward and that this should be agreed with this committee?"
REPLY:
The designation of casual trading areas is a reserved function of the Council. If any sites around the County are considered potentially suitable for designation the legal process necessary will be put in train.
There is not a great need or demand for the designation of casual trading areas for the specific sale of Christmas trees as a reasonable number of traders already provide this service at pitches where they have traded for many years.
