QUESTION NO. 4

QUESTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave

"To ask the Manager is their plans to have Park and Ride facilities in the Rathfarnham/Templeogue areas as there are commuters travelling to these areas parking their cars to the annoyance of local resisidents?”

REPLY:

The Traffic and Transport section has commenced a program of bus based Park and Ride schemes. An oral hearing into the N4 bus based Park and Ride scheme was held in July 2007 and the decision from An Bord Pleanala is due shortly. If successful, detailed design and contract preparation will commence in early 2008 with a view to commencing construction in late 2008, provided that funding can be agreed with the Department of Transport.

Another scheme which has been proposed is situated at Kingswood Interchange on the N7.

When the N4 scheme has been constructed and is operating successfully, the Council will consider other appropriate schemes within the County Council Area as resources permit.
