QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

To ask the Manager if he will make a report on the regulations/guidelines which the Council follows in determining the eligibility of groups organised on a religious basis for for financial and other supports, such as leases/licences on Council owned property/land, where the activity or facility for which support is being sought is totally or partially confined to members of the group?

REPLY:

South Dublin County Council will examine all applications received from organisations/ groups seeking support. Financial support will be examined in accordance with the criteria/guidelines as set out in the Community Grants Scheme. In the case of a group looking for property to rent or to build a premises, their application will be examined on the basis of available site, financial cost, own resources, flexibility and multi-disciplinary use and overall benefit to the local community. If the Councillor has a specific case in mind, we will be happy to discuss same with him.
