COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TERENURE-RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE 2
Tuesday, December 11, 2007
MOTION NO. 4
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
“That the Manager put in place a facility, drop in area for green waste i.e. grass and hedge cuttings which cannot be composited at home to serve the Rathfarnham/Templeogue/Ballyboden/Knocklyon areas."
REPORT:
The Environmental Services Department has no plans for such a facility from green waste in the Rathfarnham/ Templeogue/ Ballyboden/ Knocklyon areas as it considers that Ballymount Civic Amenity Site is well suited and located to provide for any demand for such a service. Green Waste is allowed into Ballymount Civic Amenity site for a fee where it is collected in skips, bulked up and removed to Bord na Mona’s facility at Kilberry, Athy, Co. Kildare.
Green Waste is also accepted at the Ballyogan Recycling facility at Carrickmines, Dublin 18. This facility is operated by our Regional Partners Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
There is also a Green Waste Collection Facility in Esker Lane, Lucan beside the Parks Depot for people in the Lucan, Clondalkin, Newcastle areas.
South Dublin will again this Christmas be collecting Christmas trees from designated locations. That will be advertised in the local press, nearer Christmas.
