MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor C. Keane
"That this Committee recommends that we discuss with the aid of plans the proposed parking provision at Pearse Br. Park and Palmer Park, this has been ongoing for some years and some of the elderly residents - are having great difficulty exiting/access to residences, this is not acceptable. Ensuring that plans are agreed with residents association prior to execution as previous plans as drawn up were totally unacceptable."
REPORT:
Extensive consultation has taken place in relation to the provision of parking in Pearse Brothers Park and Palmer Park. Numerous meetings were held between Roads staff and the resident's association including February 1, May 29 and October 9th, 2007. Earlier plans as proposed by the Council and rejected by the residents have been altered and acceptance / agreement was reached on the remaining areas. Works commenced on site in September 2007 and were completed in November.
It should be noted that the parking facilities provided exceed what was shown in the approved Ballyboden Area Plan. A total of 43 additional parking spaces were provided overall in addition to other works- footpaths, paving, landscaping etc.
