COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE 2
Monday, November 26, 2007
HEADED ITEM NO. 11
PROPOSED EXTINGUISHMENT OF PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY AT THE SIDE OF MAPLEWOOD PARK, OLD BLESSINGTON ROAD, TALLAGHT,
DUBLIN 24.
MAP REF: RE 0709
Following the request of the Members at the last Area Committee meeting, an on-site visit was held on Monday, 19th November, 2007 in relation to the above. Following a detailed site examination and discussions with local residents it was agreed that a series of related measures were required to meet the concerns that had been expressed.
Following discussion it was agreed that the preferred option of the Members in dealing with the proposed closure is:
1). To continue the railing along the low stub wall northwestward to the end of the cul de sac on Alderwood Avenue, adjacent to but not effecting the existing kissing gate at this location but including the closure of the existing access mid way along this boundary
2). To continue the railing from 1). above in a southwestward direction and to provide a gated access at the side of No. 127 Maplewood Park with keys to be issued to residents
3). To create a new pedestrian only exit through the existing boundary wall onto the existing public footpath along the N81 Tallaght By-Pass, by extending the existing footpath at the side of 105 Maplewood Park in a southerly direction and by installing a new kissing gate access at this point
The attached layout plan shows the exact locations of the works referred to above. Members were informed that as the location in question remains in private ownership, alterations of this nature could only be undertaken by the owner of the land and that he could only proceed on foot of aplanning permission.
