MOTION NO 6.

MOTION: Councillor J. Hannon

That this Committee ensure the objective of extending the Dodder Linear Park from Oldbawn Bridge west to Bohernabreena be realised and that an action plan be urgently drawn up to implement this objective.

REPORT:

It is an objective of the Council to extend the Dodder Valley Linear Park upstream from Oldbawn towards Bohernabreena. The achievement of this objective is dependant on possible land acquisition and future planning proposals in the area. At present, the Council owns isolated pockets of land in the Kiltipper and Friarstown areas which require linkage along the river. It is the council's intention to pursue continuity of access along the River Dodder to link the lands at Oldbawn with those at Kiltipper and Friarstown as opportunities arise through the planning process. The objective will be discussed at interdepartmental level to see what, if any, are the possible ways in which the process could be fast tracked.
