QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

To ask the Manager if there are plans to construct a significant number of infill housing schemes in the Jobstown area along the river and in outlying green spaces - if this is the case to ask the Manager to immediately make contact with the Jobstown Community Council as the mandated entity in the area in order to ascertain local support for such projects?

REPLY:

A preliminary concept for housing in this area was made to the Committee in 2006 by the then County Architect. On the 19th February the Committee requested an informal meeting be held with members on the proposals being developed and this was held on the 26th February.

At its meeting on 21st March the Committee agreed the that Circle Housing Association should start preliminary consultations with the local stakeholders in relation to the proposed development.

Preliminary consultations have now taken place with local stakeholders in the area. The results of this consultation and research will now be evaluated before any further consultation is undertaken.

A report will be brought to the Committee prior to the further development of any housing proposal in the area
