That the Manager provides a detailed report with respect to the provision of a new community center/space in Kiltalown as agreed during the most recent Part 8 process to provide infill housing at locations on Kiltalown Park and Kiltalown Green, to indicate what delays have occurred to date and how the manager proposes to proceed with this project without any further delays.

REPORT:

The development of an infill housing projecton two sites at Kiltalown Park and Kiltalown Green was approved at the meeting of the Council in July 2005. The construction of the units have commenced on site.

Following extensive consultation with local groups it was agreed that enhanced community facilities would accompany the infill housing. Facilities for teenagers were agreed as the priority and the Housing Department made available the two storey apartment above the Community facility on a temporary basis to meet the immediate requirements.

The two upper floors would be adjusted to allow for this new use and would complement the existing community uses on the ground floor.

In order to commence the works it is necessary to re-locate the two existing tenants in the upper floor apartments to suitable accommodation. Currently one tenant has been transferred to alternative accommodation while the remaining tenant is awaiting the alloction of a new build dwelling in the Avonbeg area which is due for completion late 2007 / early 2008

It is expected that the work to make this facility available should be complete by the end of the April 2008
