MOTION NO. 5

MOTION: Councillor C. Keane

"That this Committee discusses the disposal of the land to FAUGHS G.A.A. club with a view to expediiting the disposal procedure, and if a letter of 'comfort' could be issued to the club prior to this meeting as requested over three months ago. The club are missing out on valuable grant opportunities which they could avail of if this letter demonstrating that the procedure for disposal were at an advanced stage."

REPORT:

The terms for the proposed leasing of an additional area of land at Tymon Park to Faughs GAA Club are being finalised by Development Department at present in conjunction with the Parks Department. The making available of this additional plot of land may require the carrying out of accommodation works in the adjoining parkland to compensate for the loss of the land to be leased. Accordingly it would not be appropriate to issue a letter of consent to enable applications to be lodged by the Club for planning permission or grant funding until such time as terms are fully agreed and the Council has approved the proposed leasing of the site.

Once terms have been agreed in principle, a report on the disposal (Section 183) will be presented to a full Council meeting for consideration as a reserved function.
