QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor J. Neville

" To ask the Manager to have arranged contact made with the residents of * details supplied in view of the on-going sewarage/drainage problems occuring in the immediate area?"

Reply

The Drainage Inspector has visited this location on numerous occasions in relation to sewerage problems being experienced by the residents. The problems are on a private combined drain for which responsibility lies with the householders connected to it. The Inspector has however endeavoured to establish what the problems are.

There is a faulty broadstrap located at an adjacent house and the position of this broadstrap, which is close to a wall which was orginally garage space and is now converted to living space, is extremely difficult to access.

The Drainage Inspector also suspects that there may be a fault in the pipe itself and a camera survey of the drain has been advised. The responsibility for this and for any required remedial worksrests with the householders concerned.
