QUESTION NO. 16

QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh

"To ask the Manager if a leaf cleaning service could be introduced as in Paris with big hoovers as many old persons are fearful of walking with leaves on the paths and are afraid of falling and breaking a limb?"

REPLY:

The removal of leaves is covered by the Council’s road sweeping contract on main roads and housing estates within the County. In town and village centres where there is a daily cleaning effort the handcart man provides this service. In these circumstances it is not considered necessary to provide any additional cleaning equipment as suggested. Any location notified to the Environmental Services Dept where fallen leaves have accumulated will be passed to the contractor for urgent attention.
