QUESTION NO.7

QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren

“To ask the Manager if he would change the sequencing of the traffic lights at the entrance to Kingswood Heights off the Embankment Road, to give greater priority to residents in the Kingswood Heights area, who have suffered extraordinary delays at peak times since September of this year, and if he will make a statement on the matter.”

REPLY:

The traffic signal sequence the entrance to Kingswood Heights off the Embankment Road gives equal priority traffic demands on all road approaches to this junction. The tram is dealt with separately and during the tram stage complementary movements run.

Throughput at this junction is heavily dependent on congestion at the M50 Ballymount Interchange. it is intended to concentrate on maximising capacity at the M50 in the run up to completion of the interchange as part of the M50 upgrade works. It is hoped that this approach will improve capacity for traffic exiting at Sylvan Drive. This junction will be kept under review.
