MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE 1

Monday, October 15, 2007

QUESTION NO 6.

QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the Manager what additional resources have been allocated to the RAPID areas of Tallaght to deal with the aftermath of the Halloween season in terms of bonfires etc?"

REPLY:

No additional resources are made available to deal with bonfires in the aftermath of Halloween each year. The removal of bonfire material and the reinstatement of bonfire sites on parks and open space areas are carried out within the existing staff and resources available to the Parks Department. Furthermore every effort will be made to have the necessary clean-ups arranged as soon as possible after Halloween and arrangements are being made in conjunction with the Council’s Environmental Services and Housing Departments to publicise the negative effect of bonfires on the natural landscape.
