MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE 1

Monday, October 15, 2007

QUESTION NO 14.

QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren

“To ask the Manager to state the total number of trees in the Elmcastle area in Kilnamanagh, which are in a poor condition or have died, and if the Parks Department are considering replacing these trees, albeit with more appropriate trees for the area, in the context of the upcoming tree planting programme, and if he will make a statement on the matter?”

REPLY:

The Parks Department plan to implement a programme of gradual replacement of trees in the Elmcastle area over the next few years. The normal sequence of activity is to remove a number of trees in one year and replant those locations where suitable in the next planting season. As part of the forthcoming Arboricultural Programme, it is planned to plant ten new trees in the area. Some removals will also be undertaken with a view to replacing those in the latter part of next year.
