QUESTION NO 6
QUESTION: Councillor S. Laing
"To ask the Manager to provide an updated report on the urgent need to upgrade the park adjacent to Perrystown Community Centre which is in bad need of repair and to provide a gate to ensure enclosure at nights to combat anti-social behaviour?"
REPLY:
Some subsidence of ground has occurred within Greentrees Park adjoining Perrystown Community Centre and it is planned to undertake localised repair and landscaping of this area next spring. It is also planned to undertake a general clean-up of the park within the next few weeks.
The car park area which serves both the park and the community centre is in need of refurbishment and the Parks Department propose to include its upgrade for funding under the 2008 Parks Works Programme.
The proposed upgrade will include installation of a drainage system and resurfacing and will be funded jointly with the Council’s Community Department. The installation of a gate at the entrance to the car park can be included in this proposed upgrade provided its opening and closing is managed by the Community Centre.
