QUESTION: Councillor C. Keane

"To ask the Manager for an update on the proposals to provide parking facilities for residents of Pearse Br. and Palmer Park and to provide a copy of current drawings?"

REPLY:

The original proposals for the provision of parking facilities for Palmer Park and Pearse Bros Park were presented in 2006. This provided for a number of parking locations including a parking lot for 34 cars in Pearse Bros. Park. This proposal was rejected by the residents.

In 2007 an alternative scheme was drawn up based on drawings submitted by the resident's assocation. The proposed scheme was altered subsequent to further meetings with the assocation. On May 29th 2007 a final layout was agreed upon. Drawings were then finalised by Roads staff. Funding was requested and quotations were sought from contractors. The finalised drawings were forwarded to the spokesperson of the residents association.

A contractor was appointed and commenced works on site in September 2007. A copy of the final agreed drawings is attached. A meeting will be arranged with the residents for the coming week.
