QUESTION NO 9
QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren
"To ask the Manager if plans are in place to widen the N81, particularly that section of the road adjacent to Killinarden Estate, and if a part of the existing open space fronting onto the houses in Killinarden Estate is likely to be removed as part of this road widening scheme and if he will make a statement on the matter?"
REPLY:
The Roads Department prepared a draft Environmental Impact Statement for the extension of the Tallaght Bye-Pass in 2001. Due to financial constraints the Environmental Impact Statement was not published. The scheme proposed in the documentation involved the construction of a dual carriageway out as far as the Citywest Business Park and the construction of several roundabouts and pedestrian footbridges. The land take for the scheme was identified for the CPO procedure and the reservation was included in the 2004 - 2010 Development Plan.
Subject to financial allocations being made available from the NRA the scheme will be re-examined and those lands required will be identified and the affected landowners will be notified of possible acquisition. The Scheme will then progress through statutory process involving the publication of the Envirionmental Impact Statement and the making of the CPO. Subject to submissions made to An Bord Pleanala an oral hearing may be required on the scheme.
