QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

To ask the Manger for a report on efforts and progress to date in providing a segregated junction at Kennelsfort Road/N4 given that this is a primary route and gateway to the County which will suffer severe congestion with resulting pollution when the M50/N4 freeflow intersection comes into operation and the traffic lights at Kennelsfort Road and the Oval will negate the intended effect of the upgrading of both the M50m and the N4?

REPLY:

The matter of providing a grade separated junction at Kennelsfort Road / N4 (Palmertown By-pass) has been raised with the Department of the Environment and the National Roads Authority on a number of occasions.

Given the scale of the financial resource required for the procurement of this interchange full funding would be required from the National Roads Authority and the Department of Transport.

The Roads Department is currently reviewing the need for a grade separated junction and the effect of completion of the M50 motorway and widening of the N4.
