QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh
"To ask the Manager to take strong action against persons found dumping black plastic bags of domestic rubbish at the gates of Tymon North Park on Limekiln Road?"
REPLY:
The Council has a no tolerance policy in relation to illegal dumping. Any sites where illegal dumping is occurring and that are reported to the Council's Litter Wardens are investigated fully. Any evidence that is found at a site is followed up with litter fines or direct prosecutions in cases which are considered to be of more serious offences. Direct Prosecutions, if successful in court can result in a fine of up to €3,000 plus legal costs and clean up costs. The Litter Warden for the Tymon Park area is aware of the ongoing difficulties with illegal dumping that are occurring at the gates of the park, and any evidence that the Litter Warden finds is fully investigated as already mentioned.
