MOTION: Councillor E. Walsh
"That the Manager update this Committee on progress in developing the derelict old shopping centre on St. James Road, Greenhills noting the promise made by the owner to start development last may and to take any action that will ensure the re-development of the site and to also note that following the removal of the C.P.O. seems to have enabled the developer not to proceed with re-development."
REPORT:
Final grant of Planning Permission in relation to the latest planning application was granted for the development of this site on 25th April 2007. The proposed development is for three storey over basement mixed use development consisting of a basement level carpark and storage 2005 sq.m. Ground floor level of 1251 sq.m incorporating access to apartments, 7 no. retail units and a medical centre; two levels of residential units over, housing 3 no.1 bed units, 12 no. 2 bed units; provision of private and public amenity space formation of new vehicular access and car parking at forecourt, and vehicular access (delivery) at rear and new boundary treatment.
The owners of the site have indicated that they have appointed John A. McCarthy Fire Consultants to prepare details for an application for a fire safety certificate which will be submitted to the Council and on receipt of the “Fire Safety Certificate” intend to submit a “Commencement Notice” for the proposed development.
In the meantime, the site has been sealed off and all moveable waste has been removed and the site is being monitored by the Management Company to ensure against trespass and further dumping.
