QUESTION No. 11

QUESTION: Councillor S. Laing

"To ask the Manager what consideration has been given by his Department towards the possibility of establishing traffic calming measures on Osprey Road in Templeogue, given the current problem of speeding on the road and the fact that many requests from local residents of this area for such traffic calming measures for many years have still to be progressed and will he make a statement on the matter?"

REPLY:

In response to a large number of requests for traffic calming measures throughout the Council’s administrative area the Council’s Transportation Strategic Policy Committee at its meeting on the 11th May 2006 adopted a new Traffic Calming programme comprising of four schemes in each of the Council’s five electoral areas.  The selection of each individual scheme will be made by the relevant Area Committee from the Traffic Calming Request List.

In relation to Osprey Road it would be of assistance if the local residents submitted a petition to the Roads Department identifying the traffic problems on their road and requesting the Council to provide appropriate traffic calming measures.

The Terenure/Rathfarnham Area Committee will be appraised of all information received.
