MOTION: Councillor C. King
"That this Committee calls on the manager to arrange for the provision and erection of gates at all infill units at Cushlawn Drive ( Killinarden ) as was indicated originally, in the interest of safety".
REPORT
When the infill housing design at Cushlawn was being designed, no provision was made for the erection of individual garden gates. Experience has shown over the last number of years that the provision of individual garden gates in new Council housing developments were the cause of a large number of maintenance issues. Under the terms of the tenancy agreement these matters usually fell to the individual tenant to repair / replace.
As a result of the concerns the Council's Architectural Services Department have recommended that generally the provision of individual garden gates at individual dwellings should not be considered
