QUESTION No. 11

QUESTION: Councillor A. White

"To ask the Manager if he will consider a railing or other means of sound insulation at the back of Woodview Cottages to assist in reducing the effects of noise from the Dodder Road?"

REPLY:

Pursuant to the Environmental Noise Regulations 2006, South Dublin County Council is currently engaged in conjunction with the three other Dublin Local Authorities in producing noise maps for the entire agglomeration of Dublin. The process is being lead by Fingal County Council.  The maps are being constructed using many sources of data including filming of all major roads, inputting the number of vehicle movements, building heights etc.

Following on the production of the maps a Noise Action Plan will be formulated for the Region. The plan when complete will give an indication of the level of noise bands being experienced throughout the region. These plans will seek to introduce measures to reduce the level of noise in the higher noise band areas.

Dodder Road will be examined in this context.
