COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TERENURE-RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE (2)
Tuesday 12th June 2007
QUESTION No. 10
QUESTION: Councillor M. Árdagh
"To ask the Manager to provide litter bins outside the shops on Taylor's Lane adjacent to entrance to Moyville Lawn?"
REPLY:
The Litter Pollution Act 1997 places the onus on the owner or occupier of commercial premises to deal with the litter generated by their commercial activity and to maintain the area around their premises in a clean condition, free from litter. The Litter Warden for the area has been asked to visit these shops and to establish whether adequate measures have been put in place by the shop owners at this location. The Warden has been asked to liaise with the shop owners regarding any additional measures that need to be put in place here and to report back regarding any action that is required by the Council’s cleansing section.
