REVISED APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BUILDING CO-OPERATIVES (NABCO) SOCIETY LTD IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 6 OF THE HOUSING (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT, 1992 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF 58 DWELLINGS AND A COMMUNAL MEETING FACILITY AT BROOKVIEW, TALLAGHT

 

 

REPORT :

At the County Council meeting of 10th July 2000 the granting of a loan in the amount of £6,512,731.00 (€8,269,462.54) under the Capital Loan and Subsidy Scheme to the National Association of Building Co-Operatives (NABCO) Society Limited in respect of the construction of 58 dwellings together with a communal meeting room at Brookview, Tallaght was approved.

Following completion of the Final Account in respect of the project a revised loan application has been received from NABCO in the amount of €9,451,649.00. The increased funding sought arises from additional costs incurred following variations in the construction contract and to increased cost of labour and materials, reflecting the high building cost inflation at the time of the contract. The increased funding has been approved by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

Under section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 the granting of assistance under the Capital Loan and Subsidy Scheme is a reserved function of the Council.

Accordingly, the following motion is required:

"That this Council recommends that the application for a revised loan in the amount of €9,451,649.00 under the Capital Loan and Subsidy Scheme to NABCO for the construction of 58 dwellings and a communal meeting room facility at Brookview, Tallaght in accordance with the requirements of Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 be approved"
