QUESTION No. 14
QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr
"To ask the Manager what has caused the delay in the occupation or sale of two affordable houses on Verschoyle Park in Citywest for two years at this stage, what the manager proposes to do about this delay in the interest of surrounding properties and residents living nearby who are very concerned about this state of affairs?"
REPLY
The Council has been actively pursuing the acquisition of two units at Verschoyle Park for affordable housing under Part V of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended). Delays occurred because additional works were required in the properties , in order to satisfy building and fire regulations. The Councils architects department were not in a position to recommend the acquisition of the units until the necessary works were completed. In addition registered title to the land was only furnished very recently to the Council's Law Agent and is currently being examined. The matter is receiving priority and every effort is being made to expedite and finalise the procurement of the two units.
