MOTION: Councillor T. McDermott

"Following agreement at the March 2007 Organisation, Procedures and Finance meeting that this Committee now calls upon the Manager to write to Dublin City Council to immediately initiate arrangements to convene a joint meeting of the Area Committees of Terenure / Rathfarnham and Dublin South Central to address an agenda of items specifically including traffic arrangements in the Templeogue / Terenure and Crumlin / Walkinstown areas."

A report (link below) was submitted to the September 2006 O+P Committee meeting which sets out the range of possible pairings.

Joint Committee 3 (Lucan with Castleknock & Mulhuddart) has already met.

Committee 4 involves Terenure – Rathfarnham / Lucan – Clondalkin / Tallaght Central with City Council’s South Central & South East.

Committee 5 involves Tallaght South.& Terenure – Rathfarnham with Dundrum.

In order to advance the inaugural meetings for Committees 4 & 5, a meeting has been arranged with the chairs & administrators for each committee involved in the three authorities to plan a date and venue for an inaugural meeting and to get an understanding from the chairs of the main issues of importance which can be tabled for presentations & discussion and also to gauge what level of interest there may be in pursuing some of the groupings with only marginal common boundaries.

Members will be informed of the situation as soon as agreement can be reached.
