QUESTION 5

QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren

“To ask the Manager if he would have discussions with the Principal of (Details supplied) as a means of helping schools to provide them with a recycling service, and if he will make a statement on the matter.”

REPLY

South Dublin County Council is proactive in providing schools in the County with a recycling service.  The Green Schools programme is supported by the Council and currently 83 schools are registered with an Taisce as part of the Green schools programme.  32 schools within the County have the Green Flag – this is recognition of achievement of a high environmental standard in the following areas – waste, water, energy and transport.

The Council can arrange a visit by staff from the Environmental Awareness Section to the school in question to encourage recycling and awareness of environmental issues.
